You want know whether your 1650 is capable to run Cyberpunk2077 right? Well the answer to that is YES, it meets all the basic requirements stated. But frame rate is what you should by thinking about in 1080p, 990p and 720p.
I hope you aren’t one of those trying to switch your GPU during this time but just thinking whether Cyberpunk2077 will be playable on your current system, if you are, waiting for the GPU prices to go down may your be only option and perhaps you would be waiting for almost 2 years according to the analysts.
If you are planning to build a budget Gaming PC or just want to play the game then you shouldn’t expect pleasing results with a GTX 1650 may from a price point. Though there are GPUs worth considering with better performance that are quite good substitutes for 1650 which we will discuss later.
Low settings[1080p] | 35-40 fps |
Medium settings[1080p] | 25-31 fps |
High settings | 22-27 fps |
So I went ahead did my own research and tests, and here is what I found:
GTX 1650 1080p Performance
Low Settings 1080p
Playing Cyberpunk2077 on 1080p[low settings] will get you around 35-45fps. As I have always been a budget PC gamer and have never played with Raytracing mode like most of us, I have found that the performance quite surprising despite playing a game as demanding as Cyberpunk2077. The overall experience gameplay felt very smooth according to me when you compare it with gameplay of medium settings at 1080p.
The overall frame rate may increase during the day time in the game, because of the decreased amount of details and rendering. All kind of details and reflections of rainwater puddles, neon lights, buildings and skyscrapers make the gameplay more enjoyable at night rather during daytime. Maybe that why its called ‘Night City”.
Gameplay at High Settings isn’t at all worth it when compared to Medium settings
Before testing on High settings, I thought that the game might just be playable but of-course its Cyberpunk, I could get no more than 27 frames per second. The performance does increase a bit and just when i seemed pretty stable I started noticing the frame rate dip below 20 fps which is becomes completely annoying.
So if I were you, I would be happy at medium settings. The game is far more playable at 720p and 900p but with a reduced display quality of-course.
At 85%-100% usage in medium settings, the frame rate was stable at 31 fps and the amount of dip in fps was significantly lower.
990p Performance and 720p Performance Comparison
You can expect 49 fps on an average on a 1080p monitor and gameplay is more or less similar to 85%-100% usage of 1080p medium settings. I wouldn’t recommend getting the game if u plan to play it on 720p and 990p resolution because its simply isn’t worth it. You will be able to reach 60 fps with decent display quality while playing it on 1650 but looking from a price point perspective and power. But its still up to you depending on what kind of games you will you be playing in future.
720p[low settings] | Average : 61 fps |
720p[Medium settings] | Average : 55 fps |
990p[low settings] | Average : 47 fps |
990p | Average : 37 fps |
Bottomline
I would suggest you spend a little more to go for GTX 1650 Super as it has its own dedicated PCle power cable as it can handle more powerful games compared to its predecessor.
